Linux History

Lead contributor and administrator to the Linux Ethernet hot-standby code found at www.sourceforge.net/projects/bonding.
  • Contributed the Ethernet MII link monitoring patch to Linux bonding, which allows link failures to be detected and reported within approximately 100 milliseconds (user configurable).
  • Reviewed and integrated bonding contributions made by IBM, Motorola, Oracle, SAIC, Sandia, Redhat, and Montavista.
  • Worked with Linux network maintainers such as Alan Cox and David Miller to gain acceptance of bonding code changes into the Linux kernel.
Along with Steve Mead, Brian Kurotsuchi, and Dan Hiltgen, formed the Cal Poly Linux User's Group (CPLUG) in 1998.

Extensive experience establishing Linux servers that provide file and web serving capabilities as well as providing firewall protection for Terran Interactive and student organizations (LUG, IEEE-SB, Band).

Red Hat Solutions Architect (January 2008 - Present)

  • Chief Technical Advisor for large accounts such as: Bloomberg, Mcgraw-Hill, Standard & Poors, Dow Jones, Dun & Bradstreet, Kodak, Scholastic, CA, Estee Lauder, Quest Diagnostics, and Alliance-Bernstein.
  • Assist customers in designing proofs-of-concept with Red Hat products for competitive analysis

Hewlett-Packard Software Architect (July 2000 - January 2008)

  • Responsible for the design, implementation, and release of a Linux-based Operating System customized for a hardened telephony environment
  • Founding technical member and first Technical Leadership Co-Chair of the OpenSAF Foundation
  • Co-Creator of the Service Availability Forum Security Specification
  • Technical lead for the MC/Serviceguard Security Task Force. Co-authored the product's Security Analysis Investigation Report. Authored the MC/Serviceguard Security Enhancement Design Document and source code implementation

  • C/C++ implementation of image processing algorithms for use in the Media Cleaner Pro software suite. Media Cleaner Pro is the industry standard product handling Audio/Video Compression for delivery via the Web.
